#SaveInTheFlesh Social Media Sunday
#SaveInTheFlesh Social Media Sundays are going to be the last Sunday of every month.
This means Sunday 27th July is the next one.
A lot of you know all about and taken part in this before (thanks so much!), but as anyone taking a casual glance at the tag has noticed, this fandom is growing rapidly, so we’ll explain what this is again.
Basically, we started this campaign in mid-June - this is the original post - to demonstrate how much love for the show is out there and make sure the BBC knows it. The response from the fandom was amazing - we, got amazing support from the Sherlockians and sherlockology, and check out these stats. The show’s creative team certainly noticed the fans’ efforts and the noise we all created brought new fans to the show.
We want to make this an ongoing campaign - we’re going for once a month so that we all have time to create things for each event.
It would be really great if lots of new fans (especially everyone coming in from Teen Wolf) could take part this time!
This is how you get involved:
#SaveInTheFlesh - Sunday 27th July - 10pm UK time
- We all create a post - this isn’t about likes and reblogs, this is a show of numbers. It could be a bit of fan art you’ve made, your favourite quote, a picture of your favourite character, or even just one of the images above
- Here are screencaps (series 1 - here is series 2) for images and here are the scripts for quotes. Or you can use this free to use fan art from ruvillie and these free to use gifs.
- In the caption, say how much you like the show and that you want another series
- Include mentions of BBC Three and BBC America - do this by typing “@ bbcthree” and “@ bbcamerica” in your post without the space. When it has worked, the @ will disappear and the text will become a link. The BBC’s tumblr accounts will then get a notification when you publish the post so they’ll see you love the show
- Tag it saveintheflesh
- Schedule it for 10pm UK time on Sunday 27th July
- Tweet #saveintheflesh at BBC Three and BBC America
- After creating your own tweet, retweet a few others from the tag a few minutes later
- Get conversations going with your fellow fans - tweet questions and answer other people’s using the hashtag. This will help get the numbers up and ensure the topic stays busy.
This particular campaign method is all about timing - by suddenly all talking about the show, we send a strong, united message of support to the BBC, and show the talented cast and crew that we love them and we’re behind them all the way.
Remember: Sunday 27th July 10pm UK time
Spread the word!
British researchers have created the ‘new black’ of the science world - and it is being dubbed super black.
The material absorbs all but 0.035 per cent of light, a new world record, and is so dark the human eye struggles to discern its shape and dimension, giving the appearance of a black hole.
Named Vantablack, or super black, it also conducts heat seven and half times more effectively than copper, and is ten times stronger than steel.
It is created by Surrey NanoSystems using carbon nanotubes, which are 10,000 thinner than human hair and so miniscule that light cannot get in but can pass into the gaps in between.

making up your own fictional universe
creating an entire history for it
creating characters who have complex back stories
RESEARCHING NAMES WITH MEANINGS THAT CORRESPOND TO THE HISTORY AND UNIVERSE AND BACK STORIES YOU’VE COME UP WITH

In the Flesh is a BAFTA award winning BBC supernatural drama series in the same vein as Being Human and The Fades. It depicts life in the fictional English village of Roarton after “The Rising”, with a medication that returns consciousness to the undead having been found before the events of the show. It stars Luke Newberry as Kieren Walker, an 18-year-old bisexual/pansexual PDS (“Partially Deceased Syndrome”) sufferer who returns home to extreme prejudice from the conservative townsfolk and alienation from his sister, who - during The Rising - was part of a militia dedicated to hunting down his kind.
BBC recently revealed that BBC3 will be closed down as a TV channel in 2015 and moved completely online. This, sadly, puts the future of this brilliant show in jeopardy. The fandom for this show is small, but devoted and geared up to show their support in any way possible. But it’s not enough. More people should be watching this show - this beautiful, intelligent, revolutionary show. It has many elements of the pieces of media that often drag the vast majority of this website in and it hasn’t quite achieved that yet… Notice that I say “yet”.
There has already been a list of links to watch the show on tumblr, but the links are outdated and don’t include BBC iPlayer - which is the best way to watch the show as it contributes ratings. Luckily I have a butt load of time and a desperate need to get other people into this show (like, “break into your house and force you to watch it” desperate):
Episode One: BBC iPlayer | Stream | Torrent
Episode Two: BBC iPlayer | Stream | Torrent
Episode Three: BBC iPlayer | Stream | Torrent
Episode Four: BBC iPlayer | Stream | Torrent
Episode Five: BBC iPlayer | Stream | Torrent
Episode Six: BBC iPlayer | Stream | Torrent
Series one isn’t available on BBC iPlayer anymore and episode six of series two airs on Sunday the 8th of June at 10pm UK time. If you live outside the UK and would like to watch the show on BBC iPlayer, you can use extensions such as Hola.
You can also help by using the hashtags #intheflesh and #saveintheflesh over on twitter and following the cast and creatives to show your appreciation - Luke Newberry, Emmett Scanlan, Dominic Mitchell, Emily Bevan, Harriet Cains, Kev Sutton, Marie Critchley, Alice Troughton, Damon Thomas, Dale McCready
Idea Pitchers: Okay, so we were thinking of either addressing how there are not enough women in lead roles, not enough POCs in lead roles, not enough lesbians in lead roles, not enough unconventionally attractive people in lead roles, or not enough trans representation in lead roles. Which of those do you want to address?
Orange is the New Black Writers: Yes.
